In an achievement Auld Reekie can be proud of, ‘The Edinburgh Blues Club’ won the ‘Blues Club of the Year 2018’ award at last weekend’s ‘UK Blues Awards’ held at Worthing Pier.
Beating competition including London’s prestigious ‘St. Harmonica Blues Club’ and Manchester’s ‘Blue Funk Rhythm & Blues Club’ this is a magnificent triumph for a club only established in 2014.
Having given UK debuts to the likes of Chicago’s Alligator Records’ legend ‘Toronzo Cannon’ and Denmark’s ‘Thorbjorn Risager & the Black Tornado’ as well as exclusive Scotland shows for Kansas City starlet ‘Samantha Fish’ and England’s ‘Ian Siegal’ it’s clear the club won on merit.
Richard Tweeddale, Edinburgh Blues Club’s Promotions Manager, said, ‘It’s remarkable, the fact that we are a not for profit club run by volunteers makes it especially gratifying. We do this because we are passionate about music and about bringing the best of the blues to Edinburgh.’
